Bootcamp Workouts

If you’ve been thinking of becoming more active to help you stay in shape or get back in shape, that’s a step in the right direction. You might not be sure about what activities you should include in your workout.

This is where bootcamp exercises can make a big difference since trained professionals will be leading you through your exercise.

A boot camp workout is one of the seven elite fitness programs offered by Performance Factory Training. Find out what’s involved in boot camp workouts, so you’ll know what to expect when you arrive.

What Is a Bootcamp Workout?

A bootcamp workout will vary depending on the instructor and the goals of the participants taking the class. Workouts typically revolve around strength training, speed and aerobic exercise, as pointed out by a report from the Mayo Clinic.

You might begin a class with alternating lunges and then move on to doing some pushups, followed by a burst of high-intensity interval training or HIIT. The idea is to switch between light and intense activity, with motions that support the activities you usually do in everyday life.

A boot camp will often include some basic equipment. For example, you will use a resistance band to build up muscle strength. Exercises with a jump rope are common too.

Many boot camp programs also include activities with a stability ball to boost your resistance training. A stability ball allows you to strengthen your core and the muscles of the abdomen and lower back.

Before you sign up for a boot camp workout, it’s prudent to discuss your exercise and fitness plans with your primary health care provider, as suggested by Very Well Fit. If you have a condition that might limit your range of motion, for example, the boot camp instructor can customize activities, so you can work out safely.

Benefits of Taking Bootcamp Classes

Participants in bootcamp classes can expect to see benefits to their body, mind, and overall health. You might be surprised by the cardiovascular effort that goes into doing activities such as squats and lunges under the guidance of a boot camp workout instructor.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains that “regular physical activity can help keep your thinking, learning, and judgment skills sharp as you age.”

Those reasons are the main factors motivating people to take bootcamp classes. The CDC also notes that physical activity can “reduce your risk of depression and anxiety and help you sleep better.”

Another benefit is that you will have an opportunity to meet people from your community who are motivated to get healthier just like you.
